Studying the Course in New Energy Technology Systems at Holmesglen
Holmesglen is part of a pilot program to roll out this new course, which incorporates a range of new course resources including short videos to support your training to help you retain and understand the information and see it applied in the appropriate context.
This is a nationally accredited qualification developed by industry in response to the upcoming demand for residential solar battery installations by consumers. The course is restricted to licensed electricians and places are limited.
After the course, you can continue to have access to information and updates so you stay up to date with on-going changes in the New Energy storage sector.
The pilot program combines theory and practical training and assessment. Learners will be required to attend 5-days of on-campus face-to-face practical workshops and complete online coursework. The online study and on-campus training is delivered in parallel.

Assessment is part of each unit and will include:

To participate in the Future Energy Skills-led pilot program, you must:
a) Hold a current A Class Electrician’s Licence
b) Have successfully completed UEENEEK148A – Install, configure and commission LV grid-connected photovoltaic power systems
c) Undertake three units of the New Energy Technology Systems course
It should also be noted that any person who is required to install equipment that is fixed wired into an electrical installation must be licenced to practice in accordance with the requirements of the Victorian Electricity Safety Act 1998.
To undertake the elective unit UEERE4001 Install, maintain and fault find battery storage systems for grid connected photovoltaic systems, you must meet the prerequisite requirements of UEENEE148A Carry out routine work activities in an Energy Sector environment.
Recognition of prior learning
You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. Qualification and recognition
On completion, you will receive a Statement of Attainment, a nationally recognised qualification.
Successful attainment of this course will enable graduates to apply to the Clean Energy Council (CEC) for solar accreditation as a designer and installer of renewable energy generating systems.
Successful attainment of UEERE4001 Install, maintain and fault find battery storage systems for grid-connected photovoltaic systems will enable graduates to apply for the Battery Storage endorsement with CEC.

The pilot is led by Future Energy Skills and validated and endorsed by the following industry stakeholders: Clean Energy Council, Smart Energy Council, Gippsland Solar, Energy Safe Victoria, National Electrical and Communications Association, Electrical Trades Union, and the Country Fire Authority.
