Course Overview
This course involves both practical and theoretical training in the installation and maintenance of customer premises structured cabling systems.
The course is designed for trade workers and technical support persons who are already working in the telecommunications industry, and do not hold any formal qualification or may need to update skills to meet current licensing and regulatory requirements.
Course Structure
This course is delivered through a combination of theoretical learning, practical demonstration and hands-on activities on campus.
Topics include:
- Industry code of practice, licences, regulations and standards
- Structured cabling components
- Installations and termination
- Testing and documentation
Assessment
Assessment may be a combination of written and online assignments, tests, examinations and practical application projects.Subjects

Recognition of prior learning
You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. Prerequisites
There are no formal prerequisites for this program, however it is recommended students have Open Cabling Registration or complete the Open Cabling Course prior to attending.

Qualification & Recognition
On successful completion of this course you are eligible to receive a nationally endorsed statement of attainment.
Career Opportunities
The course provides one requirement for the registration for the installation and maintenance of structured cable.
